Parents who use drugs and alcohol can often complete a treatment programme without much opportunity to talk about their parenting.
In light of the increased attention to the potential harm to children caused by a parent’s drug or alcohol use, this is an area that Janus has chosen to address. Our parenting programme is available to drug using parents who are abstinent and wish to develop their understanding and skills.
The programme is designed to explore:
• Appropriate parenting: allowing the participant to reflect on how they parent and to explore alternative methods.
• Learned parenting: focusing on the client’s experience of parenting and how this influenced how they parent in the here and now.
