POLAND EXPERIENCE FEEDBACK
Janus attended the ECETT conference in Poland to speak about our unique approach The Resonance Factor. It is an approach that focuses on the relationship someone forms with their substance, and it steers away from terminology such as addiction, disease, illness and dependency. The feedback we received was very positive. However, it is important to write about ECETT. It is the brain child of Georges Van der Straten who resides and works in Belgium. He and his team have created a learning network that spans Europe. http://bit.ly/PolandConference
This network comprises of 15 plus European countries, ranging from Portugal to Russia to Greece and others. The purpose of ECETT is to promote and develop learning, best practice and this is achieved through the sharing of knowledge. This can be accessed through their online portal that has a repository of best practice or through their worker exchange scheme. This is achieved by visiting these countries and having an opportunity to see firsthand how they work. This is an excellent philosophy and Janus had the opportunity to visit an impressive therapeutic community comprising of 30 young people up to the age of 18. These young people can stay in the community for up to 2 years, engaging in school and other activities.
The belief that the UK is the World leader in treatment provision may be misconstrued. With Austerity and training budget cuts, perhaps the UK is falling behind. This visit was a great learning experience. Not only did Janus present ‘The Resonance Factor’ to Europe, Europe presented its great work to Janus.
